What is your role at Pathway Legal?

I am a lawyer at Pathway Legal. My role is to help clients through a most difficult time in the least stressful way possible.

What should clients look for in a lawyer or law firm?

Clients should look for a lawyer and law firm where they will feel listened to and understood, where their legal problem is seen as a something to solve and not a path to riches, and where the client’s ultimate goal is kept always in mind.

What differentiates you from other lawyers?

Just like any field, there are many different types of lawyers. I do my best to listen well to clients’ concerns and goals, and try to keep them included on everything I do on their behalf.

What attracted you to Pathway Legal?

I think the biggest thing is that the values of Pathway fit with my own, and fit with how I want to practice law. I strive to be authentic and down to earth, and that is what Pathway offers.

What are your interests outside law?

When I’m not working, most of my time is spent with my wife and kids, and we try to get out in nature and take advantage of British Columbia’s endless beauty. I also love to travel internationally when possible. Prior to becoming a lawyer, I completed a PhD, so when I have a spare minute I try to keep myself up to date with academic reading in my field.

What is your favourite kind of animal?

My favourite animal is the flying squirrel. We have one that lives near our house, and it often swoops onto our deck in the evenings. It brings my kids—and me!—endless joy to watch it float down and feed outside while we’re eating dinner.
